This time, I’d like to introduce one of my favorite breweries: Nakazawa Shuzo, located in Matsuda Town, Kanagawa Prefecture.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting their brewery and spending time with the team.
My connection with Nakazawa Shuzo began thanks to Matsuda-san of Inagoya Saketen in Toyonaka, Osaka—one of the senior liquor shop owners I respect most. For a long time, Inagoya Saketen was the only store in western Japan to carry Nakazawa Shuzo’s products.
When I first tasted their “Tokubetsu Junmai” and “s-Tokyo”, I was blown away. I vividly remember thinking, “This is incredibly good!”
That experience led me to reach out to Matsuda-san, and soon after, I visited Nakazawa Shuzo myself. Thanks to that, I’m now proud to offer their sake at our shop.
Mr. Nakazawa, the brewer, is close to me in age and has a charming personality—kind, warm, and occasionally sharp with witty remarks (which only adds to his charm, honestly!).
All these reasons are why Nakazawa Shuzo has become one of our specially featured breweries—the Owner’s Pick!
【Tokubetsu Junmai】
A well-balanced sake that harmonizes rich umami and gentle acidity.
It has a satisfying mouthfeel with the flavor of the rice coming through beautifully, yet finishes clean and crisp—making it perfect as a food-pairing sake.
Whether served chilled or warm, its character shifts delightfully, making it a bottle you’ll never tire of.
This sake is limited to a select few trusted distributors approved by Nakazawa Shuzo.
