Sake from Shiwa, the Birthplace of the Nanbu Toji Brewing Tradition
Shiwa Shuzoten is a small, traditional sake brewery located in Shiwa Town, Shiwa District, Iwate Prefecture, known as the birthplace of the Nanbu Toji brewing tradition.
Founded in December of Meiji 36 (1903), the brewery's history began when the first-generation brewer, Kiheiji Hirota, took over a highly regarded local sake brewery. After World War II, it continued brewing under the name "Hirota Shuzoten."
In October of Reiwa 4 (2022), the brewery transitioned from a sole proprietorship to a corporation, changing its name to Shiwa Shuzoten Co., Ltd., to further strengthen its business.
The brewery’s flagship brand, "Hiroki," was created with the hope of being "a sake loved by many and bringing joy to people far and wide." It has long been cherished as an essential part of local festivals, celebrations, and gatherings, adding a special touch to countless memorable occasions.
